Car Tyre Price Dropped?
Is car tyre prices down in this brand new year? Yes, it is indeed real. I have read about this news few days ago in The Star online newspaper (http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/01/15/Prices-of-tyres-have-come-down-Shop-owners-cite-cheaper-rubber-and-impending-GST-for-sharp-drop). The price has dropped roughly between 10%-15%.
The tyre price has kept on increasing until recently that the price has dropped. It is a good news for car owners especially for those that the car tyres are getting bald. If 1 tyre is RM200, with 15% dropped in price, it will be RM30 off. 4 tyres already can save a total of RM120 bucks. Not to mention, the bigger tyres for bigger car will cost more but with the price dropped, the total amount of money that will be saved can be quite significant up to few hundred dollars if 4 tyres are change at 1 shot.
It is nice to have good news at the beginning of this brand new year 2015!

Benefits of Credit Card
Credit card often associated with the risk of being used unauthorized by other people and the risk of causing debt to the card holder due to over spending. It is definitely dangerous to the card holder in terms of card safety if he/she does not practice basic safety measure on the card itself such as exposing the card information to other people and perform online transaction using laptop/pc/smartphone infected by virus or some unknown websites. For over spending, it is an issue for card holder if he/she is using the credit card for the purpose to buy something that he/she could not afford or would not buy with the cash money.
However, if the credit card is being used safely by practicing all the safety measures and being used wisely such as to pam petrols, buy necessary things that are still payable with cash even if there is no credit card, then having a credit card is recommended.
Credit card is very useful during emergency time such as admission to hospital that requires to pay some deposit beforehand even if with a Hospitalization Medical Card. Credit card can be used to pay admission deposits that would cost at least few thousand ringgit which may be difficult to pay with cash at that moment.
Credit card usage is giving some rebates on the amount spent and providing the reward points for every dollar spent. The reward points can then be used to redeem stuffs depending total points accumulated.
After using my credit card for general usage such as pam petrol, buy groceries and pay bills, I have accumulated a certain amount of points that can be used to exchange some stuff from the redeem list available.
So, I just use the reward point from my credit card to redeem a Philips Radio. It is consider a good deal. Since I don't use the radio at my rented place, I put the radio at my hometown for my family to use :)
Using credit card safely and wisely will provide more benefits rather than harm in long term.

New Shopping Mall in KL/Selangor
There are a lot of new shopping malls were opened at the end of last year and shoppers are spoilt with so many choices to go for shopping in this brand new year :) Below are few of the famous shopping malls that have already opened its door to welcome new year.
1) DPulze
DPulze is located at Cyberjaya. It is a very good news to the students in MMU Cyberjaya or Limkokwing Cyberjaya and also to working professionals at Cyberjaya because it is the only one shopping complex available in the entire of Cyberjaya. I had went DPulze at the end of last year and it is not a big shopping mall. But at least the mall will make Cyberjaya more liveable compared to last time the area was so dead when I was still a student there. It is still good enough to cater for the students and working professionals in Cyberjaya. The time I went, the mall was providing free parking. Now not sure if they already start to collect parking fees or not.
Address:
Lingkaran Cyber Point Timur, Cyber 12,
63000 Cyberjaya, Cyberjaya.

2) IOI City Mall
IOI City Mall is located at Putrajaya. I just went there few weekends ago with friends and it is super jammed pack with people. It is a huge shopping mall that is nice to walk around. The mall is providing free parking at the moment. A few things that caught my attention was the size of the mall, the mall design, the fountain located at the mall main entrance and the last but not least was the Magnum Cafe near to the mall main entrance which was having enormous traffic of customers until customers need to queue and it is a super long queue. It is really mind blowing. Magnum Cafe is just a ice-cream /dessert cafe but can have so much customer base is really due to its innovation to transform something normal into something special.

3) Encorp Strand Mall

Nearby working professionals are having the luxury to go shopping, catch up with friends or watch movie with this new shopping complex. I have not check out this new mall yet but have passed by a few times when I went for dinner at my friend's restaurant located nearby the mall. The mall looks cool.

Starbucks Card and Apps
As I am visiting Starbucks and other coffee house quite often with my friends to chill, I finally got myself a Starbucks card on last month which is also consider last year, haha. There are a lot of card design can be chose from but I chose the "Merry Christmas" design since it was the month of Christmas. To get the card is very easy, just approach Starbucks cashier to choose which card prefer and then pass the minimum reload amount of RM20 into the card for card activation. The total reload amount will appear in the card balance can be used to purchase drinks/foods/merchandise immediately. The card itself is free of charge!
I found the card is so useful and convenient. I just passed the card to the cashier whenever I want to buy drinks without the need to pay cash and prevent getting a lot small syiling change that make my wallet heavy:) Besides that, Starbucks is giving 1 free drink after 10 drinks purchased with the card.
There is a Starbucks app available for IOS and Android smartphone users which can link to the Starbucks card.
After linking, the Apps provide even much more convenience by just using smartphone to pay without the need to the bring card out. The amount is auto deducted from the card and the balance are shown immediately on the Apps.
Besides that, from the apps I can keep track easily how many drinks have been purchased so far and how many more drinks needed to get the free drinks or other rewards. It is just simple awesome:)

The Story of Brake Pad and Brake Disc
Few days ago when I was driving my car in KL, suddenly the brake keep on giving a very loud and annoying sound of "Kluk Kluk Kluk" whenever I stepped on the brake pedal. So the next day I brought my car to workshop for checking on the brake system.
The mechanic checked and found 1 side of my car front brake disc already damaged due to exhausted brake pad.
The total price was RM160 (RM75 for skim on both sides disc and RM85 for new front brake pads on both sides).
The mechanic checked and found 1 side of my car front brake disc already damaged due to exhausted brake pad.
Brake Disc Surface Badly Damage With Scratches
Brake Pad Exhausted (Left Metal Only)
So the mechanic said need to skim the disc to see if the brake disc surface is repairable or not. If not repairable, need to change a new set of front brake disc which is quite costly.
Fortunately, the skim process was successful and I just need to change a new brake pad only. That's cool. At least the disc is still usable. After skim, the damaged surface on the brake disc was gone and is back to shining now. Hehe. Satisfied with the workmanship of the shop.

Actually, previously sometimes already got some sound "Tak tak" when the brake was steeped and then released but I thought it was normal and didn't go check on the brake.
If the brake pad was changed earlier before it was totally exhausted and damaged the disc, then the skim cost of RM75 is savable.
The moral of the story is whenever is a minor sound on the brake, is always better to bring the car to check on the brake pad immediately before it damages other parts of the brake and can safe more money.
